2 SIDES OF A QUILTER
I loved my grandparents dearly even though our visits were infrequent. As kids, my brothers, sister and I would stay with them for a week or two on their farm in Nebraska. Not only did I learn how to bake bread and Bohemian kolaches, my grandma taught me to sew on her treadle sewing machine. She was an avid quilter often using the fabric left from dresses and aprons that she beautifully crafted.
Some time after my grandparents passed I asked my mom to tell me a story about the "other side" of my grandma—I knew what a wonderful baker and avid sewer she was but what didn't I know?
I was glad that I asked.
